Major brain disease risk can be avoided: Long-term research reveals the one type of training that actually works
A long-term study funded by the National Institutes of Health has found that a specific type of brain training focused on visual processing speed may reduce the risk of dementia by 25 percent. The research followed more than 2,800 adults aged 65 and older for 20 years. Participants who completed both the initial speed-training sessions and later booster sessions were significantly less likely to be diagnosed with dementia compared to those who received memory training, reasoning exercises, or no training at all.
