Iran has conveyed its views and conditions to the United States through Qatari mediators on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said. He said Tehran’s position covered issues including the Strait of Hormuz, regional security and conditions for diplomacy. The comments come after US President Donald Trump said American officials had held three hours of talks with the Iranian delegation and described the meeting as “very good.” Trump also said he believed a deal remained possible, while warning of two possible outcomes. The latest exchanges come amid heightened diplomatic activity surrounding Iran, the United States and regional security.
